Jazz Library: Marking ECM's 40th anniversary

To mark  ECM's 40th anniversary, the American Corner opened the exhibition of album covers on December 4, 2009. More than sixty ECM album covers from Mr. Davor Hrvoj's rich collection are on display to offer an insight into ECM's important contribution to jazz music with high-quality recordings of distinguished musicians and artists. The exhibition is on display until Monday, 14 December, 2009. Thanks to the Croatian jazz promoter and jazz journalist Davor Hrvoj and his generous support, the American Corner organizes thematic jazz events that accompany its jazz collection named Jazzoteka.

On the occasion of ECM's 40th anniversary, the American Corner teamed up with another jazz journalist and specialist to introduce one of the best contemporary jazz pianists. The screening of the 150th concert performed in Japan by the American pianist and composer Keith Jarrett took place after the exhibition opening. The recording of the Tokyo solo concert had been released by ECM in 2006. Ms.Vera Lončar, the Croatian jazz journalist and author on the music show "Jazz Štand", aired every Tuesday on Radio 101, talked about Keith Jarrett' s achievements, his life and music, and gave introductory remarks on the recording.

The American Corner announced the new acquisitions in the jazz library Jazzoteka, which also include Keith Jarrett's albums and concerts. The ECM anniversary is also crowned with Keith Jarrett winning Top Pianist of the Year award in 2009 DownBeat Critics Poll and its long-established Hall of Fame in the 73rd Annual Readers Poll (2008).
