Tiana Morris, Fulbright ETA (English Teaching Assistant) will give an interactive presentation titled Music and Language. A group of high school students attending  the American Studies course at Gornjogradska gimnazija will participate as part of their out-of-classroom learning experience.

As music in America reflects the county's diverse population, the presentation will introduce American musical genres by describing their origin and cultural importance. Through the choice of musical examples, it will show  how music helps us remember words and expressions and bring people together and how much we can learn about culture through song lyrics.
 

Tiana is originally from Long Island, New York. She received her Bachelor of Science in Marketing with a minor in Human Development from State University of New York (SUNY) Oswego in Oswego, NY. She also holds a master’s degree in International Education. Along with her MA, Tiana obtained a Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) certificate from The George Washington University.

Through the Fulbright U.S. Student Program, Tiana will be an English Teaching Assistant at the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Education for the next ten months. The Fulbright U.S. Student Program is the largest U.S. exchange program offering opportunities for students and young professionals to undertake international graduate study, advanced research, university teaching, and primary and secondary school teaching worldwide. Aside from teaching at the University, Tiana will hold presentations and workshops with the American Corner about her personal and educational experiences as an American.
