Ms. Ann Kos Edwards will be accompanied by the two guest lecturers, the students from Zagreb, who will talk about their experiences of New Orleans, sharing their photographs and impressions.
''New Orleans is a fascinating place in its history, culture, and cuisine, different from any other city in the United States. It is a place where Africans, both slaves and free and American Indians shared their cultures and integrated with European settlers. Founded by the French in 1718, ruled by the Spanish for 40 years, bought by the United States in 1803, it become an exotic city. New Orleans culture is truly a melting pot of French, Spanish, German, Irish, Sicilian, African, Haitian, Indian and of many other cultures. New Orleans Creole, Cajun food, jazz music, and Mardi Gras are unique in the world. Hurricane Katrina destroyed 80% of New Orleans in August 2005. Today New Orleans is rebuilt and renovated, and is again a vibrant city, perhaps better than it was before Katrina.'' (Ann Kos Edwards)

A series of travel lectures on the geography, history and culture of the United States has been launched at the August Cesarec Library in collaboration with American Corner Zagreb to cover geographical, historical and cultural diversity of the fifty states of America.
