The Beauty of Stemming

The webinar titled The Beauty of Stemming is intended for primary and secondary school teachers who are interested in implementing STEM into their English language classrooms. STEM-based lessons teach learners more than scientific concepts. They bring innovation into their lives enabling them to develop and implement their thinking skills. The international eTwinning project »STEM Influencers« is an example of how the English language can be taught and learned in the context of other fields represented in the school curriculum.

The presenters Lidija Šaravanja i Tajana Bundara will share their experiences and show some efficient ways of empowering students with 21st century skills (4Cs and 4Rs) and encouraging them to do their own content and language research for/through the process of creation. With this approach students are motivated to use both English language and ICT skills as tools to reach their aims. They are encouraged to use similar videos and tutorials as references from reliable sources.

Lidija Šaravanja, Teacher Advisor, Ph.D., Vladimir Nazor Elementary School, Čepin
 
Lidija Šaravanja is an English teacher advisor currently working as a primary school teacher in the Vladimir Nazor Primary School in Čepin. She has experience of working with various age groups – from preschool children to university students. She has a wide range of interests including civic education, sports, healthy living, entrepreneurship, digital literacy, and project work. In 2019 she obtained PhD in linguistics.

Tajana Bundara, Teacher Mentor, Ivana Lucića Secondary School, Trogir

Tajana Bundara is currently employed at the Ivan Lucić High School in Trogir, Croatia. She enjoys working on projects and creating teaching materials. Being a member of the National Expert Working Group for English, she has been contributing with educational video lessons ever since the lockdown and has participated in design of the national school curriculum. Her motto is ‘'A teacher affects eternity…‘' - Henry  Adams
