American Corner Zagreb hosts Marjorie Bucknor from the U.S. Embassy in Zagreb who will give a talk on the U.S. state of Virginia, a southeastern U.S. state, called the ''Mother of Presidents'' because eight U.S. presidents were born there.

Virginia is the 35th largest state bordered by the Atlantic Ocean in east. It is bordered by Maryland and the District of Columbia to the north and east, by North Carolina and Tennessee to the south; by Kentucky to the west and by West Virginia to the north and west.

Virginia is one of the 13 original states, and it was the site of the first permanent English settlement in North America at Jamestown in 1607.

A series of travel lectures on the geography, history and culture of the United States has been launched at the August Cesarec Library in collaboration with American Corner Zagreb to cover geographical, historical and cultural diversity of the fifty states of America.

This travel lecture is organized on the occasion of the Croatian Book Month.
